One of My most popular services as a Dominatrix is ballbusting. It is also one of My least-understood services. Many people cannot imagine what about ballbusting could be intriguing, much less erotic. Where does this sort of kink originate from? How do ballbustees even discover the interest? The people have questions, and as your resident NYC ballbusting aficionado, I’m happy to provide the answers.
When did ballbusting “become a thing”?
Kink history can be difficult to determine. While some kinks like spanking & smothering have a fairly extensive documented history in varying erotic materials, others are less prevalent. It’s possible that those lesser-documented kinks may have been so niche that they never made it out of people’s bedrooms. However, I consider a total lack of evidence an indication that that specific kink is more of a recent “invention”. Ballbusting is one such case, with the first evidence popping up in very recent history – the 90s. It is one of the many kinks which originated in Japan, under the term “Tamakeri“, which translates to “ball kicking”. The earliest depictions of ballbusting were mostly low quality / amateur videos. Most of that content was posted to now-defunct sites like Tamahimeden, Velvet Kick, Stardeck9, Spikey Step, and Femaledom. Though, there is also a 2001 piece on Literotica, written by Mistress Linde, which has a fun ballbusting moment.
What do people like about it?
Along with every other kink, the answers to “what do people get out of that” vary widely. For those on the receiving end, some are masochists who enjoy the pain, others may get off on the humiliation, others may enjoy ballbusting as part of a foot fetish, and others beyond that likely have their own “thing” that they enjoy about having their balls busted. For those doing the busting, again there are many enjoyable aspects – many who do ballbusting are sadists in their own right, or get off on the degradation of the bustee, or enjoy the power they hold over someone in such a vulnerable position. As with being on the receiving end, there are as many “why”s as there are people who enjoy the act.
Just how popular IS ballbusting?
Anecdotally – VERY. Requests for ballbusting in NYC make up about 75% of My local Session Applications. It also highly popular in My Digital Domination sessions. Some clients enjoy ballbusting on it’s own, or in adjacent to other kinks and fetishes. The popularity absolutely extends beyond My clientele alone – ballbusting was one of the most popular fetishes in Europe in recent years. It also remains high on the U.S. charts. A little exploration of Google trends shows that it has remained consistently highly popular for the last five years, and the Google Ngram Viewer shows how the popularity of the term has skyrocketed since it came into use, likely coinciding with the popularity of femdom erotica as a genre.

So we’ve established how long ballbusting has been around, some of the reasons people enjoy it, and its relative popularity. Now for the million dollar question….
Is ballbusting even safe?
Short answer: Yes and no. Everything we do has it’s own risks. Driving in a car isn’t “safe”, nor is walking down the street. There is some degree of risk in everything we do as humans. That being said, just how risky is ballbusting? Ballbusting is generally considered low to medium risk, depending on the techniques used. If a Dominant is doing simple straightforward impact-focused ballbusting, i.e. kicking, punching, slapping, it is typically low risk. However, be aware that significant impact does run the risk of testicular rupture from trauma. When one introduces elements like squeezing and/or twisting, the potential safety issues increase. This includes, in extreme cases, the bustee experiencing vasovagal syncope, testicular contusion, or testicular torsion, or potentially fertility issues. Anyone who has experienced issues with testicular health / injury should, in My opinion, avoid ballbusting, due to the potential predisposition to these rarer outcomes. However, as long as both participants understand the risk, and the person doing the busting is mindful, it is mostly “safe” to enjoy. I personally have never had a submissive experience any significant injury or issue following a ballbusting session, and it is My goal to try and ensure that I never do.
